Arms UP Swaddle that is lighter than a muslin blanket – and more convenient!
Why arms UP? It is your baby’s natural sleep position that allows access to their hands for self-soothing. Babies often use their hands to settle themselves to sleep, by sucking on their fingers or gently rubbing their cheeks. Medical research suggests that babies sleep better, & for longer, if they are able to self-soothe. So self-soothing = more sleep for the whole family.
The Swaddle UP™ Summer Lite is made from ultra-lite & cool fabric that is 30% lighter than the Swaddle UP™ Original fabric. And because the Swaddle UP™ Summer Lite uses only a single layer of fabric, it is significantly lighter than wrapping your baby with a muslin cloth.

Frequently asked questions
Choosing the right size SWADDLE UP™ & SWADDLE UP 50/50™
Q: What size SWADDLE UP™ or SWADDLE UP 50/50™ should I buy?
You should choose the correct size SWADDLE UP™ or SWADDLE UP 50/50™ ™ based on the baby’s current weight, not their age or their length.
In the SWADDLE UP™ range there are four sizes available:
- Newborn (suitable for 2.2-3.8kg / 5-8.5lbs)
- Small (suitable for 3.2-6kg / 7-13lbs)
- Medium (suitable for 6-8.5kg / 13-18.5lbs)
- Large (suitable for 8.5-11kg / 18.5-24lbs)
In the SWADDLE UP 50/50™ ™ range there are three sizes available:
- Medium = Size 00 (suitable for 6-8.5kg / 13-18.5lbs)
- Large = Size 0 (suitable for 8.5-11kg / 18.5-24lbs)
- X-Large = Size 1 (suitable for 11-14kg / 24-30.5lbs)
Q: My baby is growing so quickly. Can I just buy a bigger size SWADDLE UP™ & let him or her grow into it?
As tempting as it might be to buy a bigger size, unfortunately, the answer is no. It is very important that you always purchase the correct size SWADDLE UP™ for your baby, based on their current weight. If you use a SWADDLE UP™ that is too big for your baby, the neckline could be too loose, posing a safety risk by covering nose & mouth. The additional fabric across the chest could also potentially cover your baby’s face. A swaddle that is too big will also have very little swaddling effect & will not work as designed to contain the startle reflex.

Using SWADDLE UP™
Q: Can my baby use SWADDLE UP™ from birth?
Yes, this is actually the best time to start. If your baby weighs between 2.2-3.8kg/5-8.5lbs at birth please choose the SWADDLE UP™ in Newborn size. However, if your baby weighs closer to 3.5kg, it might be worth considering a SWADDLE UP™ in Small, which is for babies weighing between 3.2-6kg/7-13lbs.
Q: Is it safe to use a blanket over the SWADDLE UP™?
We recommend that it is safest to avoid all loose blankets in the crib/cot & instead add extra layers underneath your SWADDLE UP™. Please refer to our ‘on pack’ guide on how to dress your
baby. We follow the First Candle guidelines on creating a safe sleep zone for your baby. It is recommended that you do not put anything soft, loose or fluffy in your baby’s sleep space. This includes pillows, blankets, comforters, soft or pillow-like bumpers, stuffed animals & other soft items. SOURCE: First Candle, “Lifesaving Safe Sleep Practices”

Overheating has been linked to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome so it is very important to ensure your baby does not overheat. The SWADDLE UP™ has been designed to eliminate multiple layers of wrapping. Guidelines on how to dress your baby based on the room temperature features on our packaging.
Please note: It is really important that you take into account all external factors when determining how to dress your baby, including the temperature of the baby’s room & the baby’s general health & wellbeing.
Transitioning your baby to ‘arms-free’ sleep
Q: When should I stop swaddling my baby?
Irrespective of which swaddling method you use, you must stop swaddling your baby as soon as he or she starts to show signs of being able to roll over independently. At this time, you must transition your baby out of swaddling into ‘arms-free’ sleeping. Your baby’s arms should not be restricted when they are able to roll over – this advice is the same for any form of swaddling you may be using. Around this time, your baby’s startle reflex should have diminished.
The SWADDLE UP 50/50™ is a great way to prepare your baby for the transition from being swaddled to ‘arms-free’ independent sleep.
Q: How long will it take to transition my baby?
Every baby is different – some only take a couple of days to transition; some may take a little longer. It can be helpful to try starting your baby’s transition during his or her day sleeps. Or perhaps try waiting until your baby is asleep before removing a ‘wing’ from your SWADDLE UP 50/50™ for the first time.
